Drake Releases So Far Gone In Sept.
Drake also apologizes for his part of the beef with Motown.
“I can definitely say for me, for furthering the negativity, I can definitely say I apologize,” Drake said in an interview. “I don’t know her personally to discredit her character. It’s not the right thing to do…It was basically [me] feeling trapped. I was courted by somebody and then they just axed everything. I was stuck. They disappeared. And I couldn’t find anybody to talk to about the situation. And then to meet again a year later and to have this person forget they ever met me and say that I should go meet at their office so we can talk about signing me. I was kind of in one of those moments like, for real? [But] everybody has those moments where things aren’t gonna go perfect…I was looking for an opportunity recently to apologize for how vicious I’ve been…Not to say I negate my feelings — I still feel strongly about it. But I’m a person that usually handles things with much more tact.”
“Thank Me Later” Drake’s debut is due in stores in later this year.
Drake And Motown Still Going At It
Via Billboard: Reps at Motown are requesting all Drake Billboard chart entries be credited to Motown and not Republic moving forward — a change that will be reflected in this week’s charts. A source close to Drake says the rapper is signed to Republic, but that Motown will distribute the album, alleging that Motown — specifically Rhone — wants to take “credit for anything involving Drake.” But a source at Universal says it seems as if Drake’s deal with Republic was never finalized before Drake and his camp started confirming it to the media, and that the move to Motown was made last minute. Motown may get first dibs on any artist signed to Young Money and Cash Money regardless of the artist’s preference.

Drake and Trey Songz – Successful (Trey Edit)
Trey just sings alot more. It just sounds like a different edit minus Wayne. It’s cool.

The Newsstand – Gabrielle, Drake, And Maxwell

Gabrielle Union takes on those who call her a homewrecker. “The only marriage that I’ve ever been a part of destroying is my own, and it’s not my place to talk about anybody else’s…”
Maxwell talks about feeling lost in the game. “I remember feeling like life had slipped out of my fingers. I was always on the road. My life wasn’t a real life.”
Drake does his first cover with Fader magazine. He goes in on Sylvia Rhone. He says he did a distribution deal with Universal Republic cause he doesn’t “f@#k with Motown”. He talks Wayne. ”I respect the fact that Wayne put me in this position,” he said. “But as an artist I have to do my own thing at this point. I’m not sure if that’s gonna be a struggle in the next couple of month, to set myself apart. I don’t want it to feel like a disrespectful thing, but I know it’s a bridge that I’m going to cross as far as becoming my own person.” The full article is due to hit the stands August 18th. In some cities a week earlier.
Video: Drake Performs Again With A Cane
Drake performed last night at the Toronto stop of the America’s Most Wanted Tour.
A Letter From Drake – Back Working On CD
“This bottle of Opus One is low but my spirits are high my friends,” Drake wrote. “I am about 2 hours away from Toronto, CA where I will be spending the next chunk of time recovering from a surgery that I now must have. I embarked on this tour with a torn ACL, MCL, and LCL and due to the events that happened the other night lord only knows what other damage I have done. On the bright side I will begin the reflecting and soul searching that its going to take to make this album and my outfit on the night I fell was crack. I will forever push myself beyond the limits despite advice and recommendations given because even with this new found success I am still the kid who wanted this more than anything in the world. Its funny when I read comments from previous fans who have lost interest because of the radio play and exposure I have. I just want to assure anyone reading that nothing has changed on my end. I refuse to get comfortable, I refuse to fall in line and follow anyone elses formulas. I still work as if So Far Gone had never dropped and I’m still trying to figure out how I’m going to gain entry to this game.”
New Drake Ft. Saukrates – The Search

This is some fire from Drake. While everyone is still ribbing him for not taking the doctors advice and stay off that leg, maybe this will distract people for a minute.

Drake Collapses On Stage – Bad Knee
Damn this kid is gifted and cursed. He can’t seem to keep this career rolling without stumbling (literally). Watch Drake take a big fall while performing The Best I’ve Ever Had.
Drake Apologizes For Bad Video

“That career move was very important to me,” he said in an interview. “We’ve done such a great job of building it all up. It’s kind of like people were getting this impression of me that I’m never gonna make a mistake…If you listen to the song, I’m not saying the most graceful thing in the world. It’s not the most heartfelt song…I guess one thing I didn’t consider is what the song personally means to a lot of women…To those women, I apologize. I do apologize. My intention wasn’t to put anyone down. It was to make them laugh. I wanted people to see something visually different.” (MTV)
Drake Acting Again

The boy Drake is on fire. Singer, rapper, and actor will be starring in a new sitcom. The checks this boy must be cashing.
Via Sohh – Also Wednesday, Toronto-based the Nightingale Company said Canadian actor and rap artist Aubrey “Drake” Graham (“Degrassi: The Next Generation”) is to develop a new comedy series for the indie producer. Graham, also known as the recording artist “Drake,” and fellow actor Mazin Eisadig (“The Line”) are to co-star in “Us and Them,” a sitcom about best buddies — and polar opposites ? trying to make their way in the entertainment industry. (The Hollywood Reporter)
Update: “‘Us and Them’ is something he has been working on for some time with some of his actor friends,” his rep said in an interview. “They will be continuing to develop the show, but Drake won’t be starring in it.”
Drake Talks Wayne

“Someone would really have to come to the studio to see me and Wayne together and how we work,” Drake said in an interview. “It’s the same sort of thing. I fear Wayne’s creativity. It’s endless. It’s a scary beast. He never takes one day off. When we get into the studio it is very competitive, but in a good way. You can’t just use a line you wrote Tuesday. Every line has to be thought out…I’m about two songs in. I really haven’t even started. The tour is really throwing me off, so I probably won’t start really working on it until September. It will probably come out Valentine’s Day next year.” (The Boom Box)
Drake Responds To Being Dropped Off Blueprint 3 Single

Initial reports said that the first single off of Jay-Z’s Blueprint III was supposed to be a song featuring Drake. Instead Jay went with Run This Town Ft. Rihanna/Kanye. The net has been buzzing about why Jay would drop Drake off the single. Well Drake has responding to the buzzing.
“I don’t know who came up with that rumor to be honest, but I always knew what Jay’s first single was going to be. Me and Jay did a lot of work together. Maybe at one point he was considering doing it and someone got over-excited and put out a press release that I was going to be on the first single.” “I think Jay made a great choice,” he says. “I think the ‘Run This Town’ song is phenomenal. I think Kanye kills that s—. I actually heard that song when it was a Rihanna track.” (Global Grind)
Details On Drake Deal

LA Times Reports – Under the unusually lucrative agreement he struck with Aspire/Young Money/Cash Money Records distributed through Universal, Drake received a $2-million advance. He retains the publishing rights to his songs and cedes only around 25% of his music sales revenues to the label as a ‘distribution fee,’ his managers said. By contrast, the overwhelming majority of new artists sign financially restrictive ’360 deals’ that sap their touring and merchandise income and offer much more restrictive profit-sharing.

Drake Explains Video

The video is directed by Kanye West. Basically we decided, as opposed to taking ourselves super serious, we just wanted to have some fun with it. Myself, being a young man, a young single man at that, I kind of wanted to be real about the way I function with women at this current point in my life. Which is, I don’t have one woman that I call my girl. There’s different girls in my life that play different roles and I see at different times, but collectively they kind of make up the roster of happiness for me [Laughs].
Drake Signs To Young Money

Yes the wait is over. Drake signs to Cash Money. All I can say is we saw this coming. Smart move for Wayne and Baby. Drake better get on his A game. Cash Money only has one successful artist. They did nothing for Mack 10, Lil Moe, Tina Marie or any other post Hot Boys acts. Drake said we could be expect an album by the end of the year.

Drake Explain Successful and So Far Gone
Drake Supposedly Signing To Universal

Apparently the word on the street, according to illseed over at Allhiphop.com is that your boy Drake will be signing to Universal. Now whether that is with Cash Money or not hasn’t been established. If Cash Money knows like I know, Wayne is hot, but that heat can’t last forever. It wouldn’t hurt to have the next big thing on their roster. But that is just me.
Drake To Announce His Label Within A Week

It has been reported that Drake is nearing the announcement of his new deal. We are looking forward this CD. I would like to see his talent maximized.
According Sohh.com – “I’m like, maybe, five days away maybe,” Drake said about making a record deal announcement yesterday (June 18). “Just give me five days, I’m sorry, I can’t. The burning question will be answered in five days…I’m out here in Miami working with Pharrell and I’m even realizing oh, we got so much more to give to these people. I just started working on my album pretty much a couple days ago and I’m still seeing the creativity is flowing at an amazing level.” (WGGC)
